Freedom is something we are taught to search for—in places, in systems, in the hands of others. But in a world where freedom can be restricted, taken, or negotiated, its meaning begins to fracture. What we call “freedom” often appears as something external, something to be gained or defended. Yet this form remains conditional, shaped by power and circumstance. If there is such a thing as absolute freedom, it may not exist in the way we expect. It cannot be given, and it cannot be taken. It is said to emerge only through letting go—of fear, of control, of the need to hold onto anything at all. Whether this is true remains uncertain. Perhaps it is not elsewhere to be found—but near, here, and there. What remains is the question: Are we searching for freedom—or holding onto what prevents it? Nothing holds you. So why are you still held?
