About the serie

"Golden Rays Shining Upon Us" is a digital painting that pays homage to the countless heroes of Myanmar who have sacrificed their lives for freedom and a better future. This piece reflects the power, resilience, and unity of the people during turbulent times. Through minimalistic figures and abstract elements, it captures the essence of strength, hope, and solidarity, while celebrating both the visible and unsung heroes—those who fought with courage, whether in life or death, known or unknown. The central focus of the artwork is a girl symbolizing motherhood, justice, and the fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives for freedom, especially Kyal Sin and Mya Thwe Thwe Khaing. Kyal Sin is depicted wearing her iconic shirt that bears the hopeful message, "Everything will be OK," a poignant reminder of her courage and unshakable belief in a better future, even in the face of grave danger. She represents the unwavering spirit of resistance and hope, carrying the love and determination of the people. Mya Thwe Thwe Khaing, the first fallen hero of the Myanmar coup, is portrayed standing in front of a black sun that forms a radiant halo around her. Other figures of Myanmar’s people from all walks of life—ordinary citizens, doctors, trishaw drivers, CDM workers, and even children—standing together as a symbol of unity. At the top of the artwork, a black sun radiates golden rays. Far from being a symbol of darkness, the black sun stands for power, rebellion, and a tribute to those who have fallen. The golden rays, shining brightly from this sun, symbolize hope, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of the people. The rays illuminate the figures below, signifying that even in the most challenging times, hope continues to guide the path forward. The figures in "Golden Rays Shining Upon Us" are intentionally faceless, representing the collective spirit of Myanmar’s people—diverse in age, gender, background, and role in the revolution. By removing individual identities, the artwork highlights the shared courage and strength of all citizens, from the youngest to the oldest. The facelessness also allows viewers to see themselves and their loved ones in the figures, reminding them that every person, no matter how small their action, plays a vital role in the nation’s fight for justice. This artwork is a tribute to the extraordinary courage and resilience of the heroes who continue to stand strong in the face of the Myanmar coup, as well as to the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom and justice. Created with vibrant, expressive strokes, it captures the emotional depth of bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering hope. Each color embodies a key aspect of their collective spirit—red symbolizes the courage and determination to fight for justice, blue represents the resilience and longing for freedom, and warm tones of yellow and orange signify hope, optimism, and belief in a brighter future. The radiant backdrop of golden light evokes the rising sun, a symbol of new beginnings and the enduring fight for truth and justice. The figures stand together, unified by their beliefs and shared struggle, their forms interwoven with dynamic strokes that reflect the raw emotions of love, loss, and persistence. The absence of rigid outlines mirrors the fluid and ever-changing nature of their fight, showing that strength arises from both individual resolve and collective solidarity. This piece honors not only the visible acts of heroism but also the silent courage of those who continue to resist, endure, and hope. It is a celebration of their love for their people and their homeland, a visual expression of the indomitable human spirit, and a reminder of the enduring light even in the darkest times. The golden rays streaming from the black sun signify not only hope but also the continuation of the fight for freedom. These rays light the figures below, reinforcing the idea that as long as hope shines upon the people, their strength will carry them through to a brighter future.
